About WCBR

Founded in 1916, the Westchester County Board of REALTORS®, Inc. (WCBR Inc.) is a not-for-profit trade association representing more than 7,000 real estate professionals doing business in Westchester County and the surrounding region.

The term REALTOR® is a registered mark. It refers only to those licensed real estate brokers and salespersons who hold membership in a REALTOR® organization such as ours, who agree to be held accountable to a strict Code of Ethics, and who also agree to periodic ethics education and other professional instruction that is required by the Board.

WCBR provides a wide range of services and programs to its members and to the general public. These include:
  • Together with the Putnam County Association of REALTORS®, WCBR owns and operates the Westchester- Putnam Multiple Listing Service, Inc. a corporation that manages a large database of available properties listed by REALTORS® in Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess Counties. Information about these properties is available to the general public on a number of Internet real estate sites including www.realtor.com, (www.realtor.com/westchester) and www.LOHUD.com.
  • WCBR publishes extensive statistical information about and analysis of Westchester’s and Putnam’s housing markets based on data from the multiple listing service.

  • The Board operates the School of Real Estate, one of the largest real estate education centers in New York, providing continuing and general education to REALTORS®, and real estate licensing courses to the general public. Courses are available in classroom settings as well as on CD-ROM and on-line.

  • The Board maintains an arbitration and ethics hearing service for resolving disputes between REALTORS® and complaints by customers and clients against REALTORS®.
  • (How to file a complaint)

  • The Board aggressively advocates for legislation and regulation to facilitate home ownership opportunities, trouble-free real estate transactions, lower ownership costs, sensible development, and other real estate issues that are in the public interest.

  • WCBR maintains a Commercial Investment Division that provides programs in support of its members who are specialists in commercial real estate.

  • WCBR publishes Real Estate In-Depth, a real estate newspaper that is available to non-members on a subscription basis. The Board also runs general seminars for its members and the public, and sponsors real estate trade shows.
The organization is governed by an elected Board of Directors and is managed by a professional staff of 15 persons at its White Plains headquarters. The Westchester Board is a member of the New York State Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®.
